About

Hi there — welcome to The Casa Way! I’m Melissa, a mom of two.

Our house runs on reheated coffee, color-coded calendars, and a constant low-level negotiation over who left shoes in the hallway. If that sounds like your house too, you’ll fit right in here.

For years, this blog was my little corner for sharing our family life — the trips we took, the recipes we loved, the products that actually made life with kids easier. All of that is still here, and it’s not going anywhere.

But somewhere between the second kid and the third price hike at the grocery store, I started asking a different question: how do we make our family money actually work for our family?

Nobody hands parents a playbook for this stuff. How do you build a budget you’ll stick to when you’re running on four hours of sleep? How do you save for the big things — the house projects, the college funds, the family vacation — without giving up the small joys that make life with kids so good? And how do you teach your kids about money when you’re still figuring it out yourself?

That’s what The Casa Way is about now. I’m learning right alongside you. Here’s what we’ll dig into together:

Family Budgeting — budgets that fit real, busy life. No shame, no spreadsheets you’ll abandon by February.

Saving & Investing — growing your family’s safety net and its future, explained in plain English.

Kids & Money — allowances, chores, first jobs, and raising kids who understand what a dollar means.

Family Travel on a Budget — real trips that don’t come with a debt hangover.

Smart Shopping — getting what your family needs (and some of what it wants) without the guilt or the overspend.

I’m not a financial advisor, and this isn’t fancy finance talk. It’s just one mom sharing what’s working, what’s flopped, and what’s worth trying next. I make mistakes, I learn, I adjust — and I write it all down here.

So pull up a chair. Let’s figure out this money stuff together — our families are worth it.
